It is a pleasure to pick up another of Bill Cronin’s beautifully crafted books. There are many descriptions of the storyline in other reviews presented here, so I will focus on what I find unique about the author’s books.He focuses on social issues as well as his flawed hero’s unfolding life. This makes for interesting and often profound reading. His characters present well and I soon found myself becoming involved in Jack McNamara’s life which everyone can relate to. His fine touch with the interplay between his characters is a talent not every writer possesses and for me his style is indeed reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway’s works.
As always with this author’s books, he keeps me anticipating and eager to know where I am being taken. Another of his novels that is not to be missed.

Glad that Jack came full circle. Now for complete round at the " Muni " all obligations would be home on the range
I loved this third book as much as the first two. The characters are real, the story is emotional yet entertaining. I want a fourth book!
Wonderful read. Different from most of the books I read. Very glad I got it.
As an avid reader of Bill Cronin’s work, I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy of Joe and the Governor. This is one of the author’s best works, as he weaves a story around rich characters that make you want to read it all in one sitting, even when you can’t. I highly recommend to family and friends to read all of Mr. Cronin’s books, knowing you will enjoy them as much as I have.
As with all of Cronin's books, he has an uncanny ability to draw you in with his artistic prose, making you feel like you're right there with his characters, experiencing what they're experiencing. It makes for a great read and this book is another wonderful installment in the Jack McNamara series.
Sadly the last book in this series ( hopefully there will be a # 5? I read all four and must say I felt Mr. Cronin's writing improved with each book.(just my opinion. I have already ordered Dial Tone and so far I think it is going to be my favorite. Have enjoyed all of the books I've ready by Mr. Cronin.
this book is definitely one you don't want to miss. Bill Cronin has a way with stories that is rare. He writes with love and compassion and at the same time with creating intense need in the reader to discover what is going to happen. I could not put the book down once I got into the story. The subject matter is a concern to everyone and Mr. Cronin covers it beautifully. I can't wait for his next novel. Enjoy!
